Born as Frank Anthony Bruni, he is now popularly known as Frank Bruni. American journalist Bruni was born on 31 October 1964 in White Plains, New York, U.S. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina with a B.A. in English in 1986. He was also a Morehead Scholar and has been a staff writer for the student paper, The Daily Tar Heel. Bruni did graduation being second in his class with a Master of Science degree in journalism from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where he was also the winner of a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship.

After graduation, he joined the staff of the New York Post and switched to The Detroit Free Press. There he has written numerous articles including Persian Gulf War and movie reviews. Then in 1995, he got a job in the New York Times as a metropolitan reporter and he frequently wrote for the Times' Sunday magazine and for Sunday Arts.

In 1998, he covered Capitol Hill and Congress. And in 1999, he was doing the full-time coverage of the presidential campaign of George W. Bush. He covered White House for eight months and later he worked as a Washington-based staff writer. He also wrote The New York Times bestseller book of George W. Bush called "Ambling into History" and “born round which is about his family’s love of food and his struggle of overeating.

Bruni is an avid travel writer. He has not only served as writer in his journalism career but also he has frequently done commentary on television news shows on CNN and MSNBS. He also appeared as the guest judge on Top Chef and briefly in the movie Julie and Julia. From 2004 to 2009, he was the chief restaurant critic of the New York Time. In June 2011, he was named an Op-ed columnist for the newspaper. Currently, he writes about politics, popular culture, food and gay rights.
